Kuliang Proposal

2024年6月24日至28日，中美两国各界青年相聚中国福建省福州市，围绕“传承鼓岭情缘 深化友好情谊”主题，了解跨越百年的鼓岭情缘，探讨面向未来的交流合作。我们一致认为：百年鼓岭故事是中美友谊的生动写照。中美两国人民完全可以跨越彼此差异，建立起深厚的友谊。两国青年既是中美关系过去45年发展的见证者、受益者，更应是下一个45年中美关系健康稳定前行的维护者和推动者。

From June 24 to 28, 2024, we, Chinese and American young people from different sectors of society, gathered in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China, to learn about the centuries-old bond with Kuliang and explore future-oriented exchanges and cooperation, wishing to "Carry Forward the Bond with Kuliang and Deepen Friendship". We all believe that the story of Kuliang stands as a testimony to China-U.S. friendship. The peoples of China and the United States can rise above their differences to build a strong friendship. We youth of both countries have witnessed and benefited from the growth of China-U.S. relations over the past 45 years. More importantly, we should be champions and promoters of healthy and stable China-U.S. relations in the next 45 years.

为此，我们倡议：

To this end, we would like to propose the following:

一、在继续举办好“鼓岭缘”中美青年交流周的同时，每年分领域举办规模大小不等的中美青年专业性交流活动。为两国各领域青年在开放、包容、轻松、友好的气氛中开展对话、增进了解、建立友谊、探讨合作打造机制性平台；

1. We shall continue Bond with Kuliang: China-U.S. Youth Festival. Besides, we shall hold events on a regular basis, of varied specialties and scales, for exchanges between American youth to continue the Bond and create a platform for young people of our two countries to conduct exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, build friendships, and explore cooperation in an open, inclusive, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

二、大力传播鼓岭故事、传承鼓岭情缘，让中美两国更多人民了解这段历史，在相互尊重、和平共处、合作共赢的基础上共同致力于中美友好；

2. We shall promote the story of Kuliang and continue our bond with Kuliang so that more people in China and the United States will get to know about the story and together strengthen China-U.S. friendship based on mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.

三、积极参与中美各领域交流合作，做增进两国人民了解和友谊的青年使者，让中美人民友谊像鼓岭上的千年柳杉一样，茁壮成长，生生不息。

3. We shall encourage Chinese and American young people to engage in exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields and become envoys promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and the United States so that our friendship will grow and thrive like the millennia-old cedar trees in Kuliang.
